How it works

One shift, from posting to payday.

  1. The clinic posts a shift.

    It sets one rate for the role. Its Clinic Passport goes out with the listing automatically.

  2. You browse and decide.

    Each listing shows the rate, the paid hours and the practice software, so you know what you’re walking into. Browsing is open to everyone with an account.

  3. Verified professionals apply.

    Applying opens once your checks are current. When the clinic books you, the full Passport unlocks: address, parking, contacts and protocols.

  4. Clock out, get paid.

    Clock-in and clock-out are confirmed by your location on site. Pay is released at clock-out, with no timesheet to chase.

    Every applicant sees the same number, with no bidding. Our fee is billed to the clinic, never taken out of your pay.

  • Paid when you clock out.

    No timesheet to submit and no manager sign-off to wait for. Want it sooner? Instant Pay sends same-day funds.

  • Staying late is paid.

    Time past the scheduled end is paid at the extended-time rate on the listing. You see that rate before you apply.

  • Late cancellations still pay.

    If a clinic cancels within 24 hours of your shift, you’re paid half the posted shift pay.

  • Taxes, planned for.

    Pick a set-aside percentage and every payout shows what to put away. The full amount lands in your own account.

  • Verified once, yours to keep.

    One verification covers every clinic you work with, and the record is yours to take to any employer.

    Before a shift goes live, you see the full cost with our fee on its own line.

  • Pay for hours actually worked.

    Your card is authorized when you confirm a booking and charged when the professional clocks out on site. Spot a problem? Flag the hours within 7 days.

  • Clear cancellation terms.

    Cancel 24 hours or more ahead at no cost. Inside 24 hours, the professional is paid half the posted shift pay.

Credential checks run through VetCreds, an independent veterinary verification service.

Why Pawdiem exists

Built by someone who has worked the shifts.

Heather, Pawdiem’s co-founder and CEO, has spent more than 25 years as a surgical technologist. Per diem work in human healthcare gave her flexible shifts, real income and a career on her own terms.

Then she watched her own dog, her daughter’s dog and friends’ pets wait for care. The care existed. The clinics didn’t have the staff to provide it.

Pawdiem brings the per diem model to veterinary medicine for the whole team, from the DVM to the front desk. Credentials are checked at the source, every shift carries a Clinic Passport, and the rate on the listing is the rate that gets paid.

Which roles can work through Pawdiem?

Every role in a clinic: veterinarians, credentialed and early-career technicians, assistants, receptionists and client service staff, practice managers, and kennel and animal care staff.

Do I need to be verified to look at shifts?

No. Anyone with an account can browse shifts. Applying opens once your required checks are current.

What gets checked?

Every role: identity, a background check and two professional references. Licensed roles add a license check with the issuing board and a review of any public disciplinary record. DVMs also need current DEA registration and malpractice insurance. Where a state doesn’t license a role, the record says “Not required in your state” instead of showing a gap.

What does a clinic pay?

The rate it posts, plus Pawdiem’s fee, shown on a separate line before the shift goes live. Your card is charged when the professional clocks out.

Does sending a message sign me up?

No. The form sends a message to our team. It doesn’t create an account or add you to a mailing list.
